Dispersion and spectrum

When white light passing through a prism falls on a screen only seven colour ( VIBGOUR) are prominently seen. The prism splits the colours present in white.

The phenomenon of splitting of white light by a prism into its constituent  colours is known as dispersion .

When white light pass in a prism they split in differnt 7 colour called scattering of white light and that patten of light looking rainbow...
